This really very easy and simple. Just download one of our “DIY Memorial

Picture” templates (or create your own). Print the image on your favorite photo

paper. I prefer high gloss. I printed out an 8 X10 but you can make it larger

if your computer is capable. The images files on Heavenly Images are high

quality 300dpi (2400 X 3000 pixels). I like to use a larger frame with the

appropriate mat opening. In this case I used a 14 X 17 frame with an 8 X 10

mat.
Then all you need to do is cut an opening in the circle area for your loved

ones’ picture. You might practice on a piece of similar paper. Don’t worry if

you mess up the first one. You can always print out another. Once you download

one of our templates, you can print as many copies as you like.You can cut the

hole with a razor knife (be very careful). It’s much easier if you use a

drinking glass instead of a coffee cup like I did (the handle gets in the

way).Secure your loved ones’ picture on the back of the template with clear

tape. Then attach the template to the back of the mat, put the frame back

together and you have a beautiful memorial picture to honor your loved one and

to share with others. This makes a unique and caring gift for someone special.

In a regulated market there was no incentive to offer cost saving Energy or innovative products and services. In a deregulated market, the local utility is reduced to an electricity delivery company. This makes it possible for customers to choose an alternate source for the generation portion of their bill which is approximately two thirds of their total cost. Customers continue to rely on their local utility to deliver their electricity, provide service, read their meter and send out the electric bill. This portion of the electricity service remains the same.

Utility companies price electricity cost per kWh, an abbreviation for kilowatt hour, which is the equivalent of using 1000 watts of energy over an hour time period. Electricity cost per kWh can vary widely from place to place, and is influenced largely by your state, location within the state, and your demand for power. Whether your goals in purchasing electricity are based upon price, environmental impact or customer service, understanding how utilities charge for power will help you to negotiate the best option.

Before considering the ways companies charge for electricity, it can be helpful to examine your own consumption. A key resource is your past electric bills, which will indicate the total kWh your household uses per month. As a benchmark, the average US household consumed 920 kWh per month in 2008. Use will increase seasonally, as air conditioning is a primary source of energy demand.

Once you’ve identified your history of use, you may want to evaluate specific appliances or equipment within your home to isolate particularly inefficient products. The internet provides some guidelines and general information on the consumption needs of appliances and equipment or you can calculate requirements yourself. Simply take the wattage required to operate the item and multiply it by the hours in use, then divide by 1000 to determine the kWh for the unit for a given period of time. Given the kWh, the cost of power can be calculated by multiplying that number by the price/kWh from your utility company.

Utility companies set electricity cost per kWh based upon demand, the wholesale price of energy, and overhead costs. In many cases, electric rates are tiered, meaning prices increase with demand. In other words, the cost for use up to 500 kWh may be $.15/kWh, 501-1000 @ $.20/kWh, etc. For customers interested in decreasing their utility costs, a tiered structure means that any reduction strategies that are implemented will reduce the more expensive power first.

In addition to the quoted electricity cost per kWh, utilities may also charge fees that are billed per kWh. Examples of fees that can be charged include line extension fees, transitional costs, and demand charges. Line extension fees are charged to recover the cost of delivering power to your site, and may vary widely within the same city based upon where you live in proximity to the power source. Transitional costs, also known as standard investments, allow companies in deregulated environments to recover the costs associated with offering competitive services. Demand charges are relatively common and are fees based upon the maximum amount of energy needed at a given time. If your company charges based upon demand, spreading out appliance use over the course of the day or running appliances at night can help reduce costs.

Another strategy to distribute the demand for power throughout the day is to offer reduced rates during night hours. As with demand charges, this encourages customers to do laundry or use electronics when air conditioning demands are not as significant.

In some areas, utilities have been deregulated to allow competition to enter the electricity market. In many cases, the average electricity cost per kWh does not decrease in these areas, largely because of the additional costs associated with a competitive marketplace, like customer service, transitional costs, and marketing. However, smart shoppers in competitive markets can evaluate rate plans and negotiate fees to select the company that best meets its own demand needs and often save money. Many third-party energy cost evaluating tools are available on the internet and from state and local energy departments that can help consumers make wise choices among providers.
