This is the Rev Jenny Barnes’ sermon before the healing service on February 5, 2012 at Yeager Memorial Lutheran Church in Bedford, PA. Quite a few people came forward for prayers and healing. The presence of the Holy Spirit was very evident. We hope to have another healing service in the not too distant future. We we will post the date on our website calendar as soon as we know for sure. What a beautiful drive it was this last Sunday (2-5-12) as the trees were flocked with a fresh layer of fluffy white snowflakes. Absolutely gorgeous!

Welcome home!
Heaven?
Do you believe in Heaven?
Do you believe in fairy tales too?…
…or how ‘bout mythology?
How can an intelligent person believe in Heaven?
If you believe in Jesus, you almost have to believe in Heaven.
But that’s the problem…how could any really intelligent person believe in Jesus. At least not the Jesus they try to sell you at church. I mean, come on, talk about your fairy tales. How could you possibly believe that God decided to leave his place in Heaven and come to Earth to be born in a stable, live as a commoner among us, teach us about love and then allow us to kill him in the most gruesome manner just to show us the greatest love of all? Are you serious?
Well, it’s right there in the Bible people would always tell me.
Well so what? Isn’t that just a book of fairy tales? Anything can and does happen in the Bible. You’ve got a flood covering the whole world. Nine hundred year old people. A man who parts the sea. Another man who survives living in the belly of a whale for 3 days…I could go on and on.
But all of that is in the “Old Testament”. We don’t really know when the old testament was written.
But I was astonished to find out that the “New Testament” (the story of Jesus), was written within 3 to 37 years of Jesus’ death. Which means it can’t be a fairy tale or even a legend. Too many eye witnesses were still alive for someone to get away with making it all up. And anyway, what would be the motivation for making it up. The main followers of Jesus were scared to death after he was killed and were in hiding. Do you think they made up a story about Jesus rising up from the grave because they suddenly decided they wanted to be martyrs and get nailed to a cross also? It just doesn’t make sense.
Could it be that Jesus really did come back to life again after being horribly executed? Could it be that He really did appear to over 5000 people over a 40 day period? That might have given the disciples the courage to come out of hiding and start spreading the Word that Jesus had given them…the Word that has amazingly spread to every corner of the globe.
The truth is that the New Testament is one of the most widely authenticated documents in the world. And as for historical accuracy, the New Testament is much more reliable than many other documents that we take for historical fact. For instance, the historical accounts of Alexander the Great were written 500 years after his death. We know that some elements of his story have been exaggerated, yet we accept these accounts as fact.
Many people say you have a lot of faith to believe in Jesus. I don’t really think so. Knowing what I know now, I’d say you’d have to have a lot of faith not to believe in Jesus. In fact, you have a lot more faith than me if you are willing to bet this life and (if you are wrong) the rest of eternity on the fact that Jesus was not God who came to Earth in human form to show us how to love one another.
Jesus believed in Heaven.
Do you?
How can an intelligent person believe in Heaven?
That’s what I used to ask also.
Now I ask,
“How can an intelligent person not believe in Heaven?”

I have had a little problem here and there but the people at 000WebHost have been quick to take care of anything that I’ve had a problem with. Hey… what do you want for free? I had more problems in a month with “iPower” or “IPowerWeb.com” than I’ve had with 000WebHost all year. I posted about this company back in June shortly after I started putting up some sites using their servers. Now just look how much I have grown. I am listing all of my domains at the end of this post for you to see (and it doesn’t hurt to have another link on the Web. Please copy this and use it all you want to. I appreciate it. Get your online presence going right now.
I don’t know how long 000webhost.com has been around but I just discovered them a few weeks ago. Since then I’ve been so busy putting up new websites that I’m afraid I’ve been neglecting some of my older ones…like this one.
Where has this been all my life? It’s too good to be true! Maybe I’m the only one who didn’t know about it but if you didn’t know either, you owe it to yourself to go check it out. It’s easy to sign up and you can have a website up in a day. I had a bunch of domains that I had bought from godaddy for cheap but couldn’t afford to get them online (I thought). Since finding 000webhost.com, I’ve put up almost a website a day. You can have as many websites as you want. That’s right, unlimited websites. I almost feel like I shouldn’t be telling you this. I want them all for myself! lol You are limited to one new website every 24 hours. It’s great. You can get a domain name for $1.99 (.info) at godaddy (or less if you buy 6 or more at a time). Then you go into godaddy’s domain manager and change the nameservers to ns01.000webhost.com and ns02.000webhost.com (000webhost’s servers). Usually with a couple of hours your site is ready to build.
The Fantasico Auto Program installer is not available when last I checked and forget 000webhost’s Website Builder. I haven’t been able to get them to work so far. And you don’t get FrontPage extensions with the free sites but you can use an ftp service to load your sites just fine. Here is a list of the sites I’ve got up and running so far:

If you are trying to quit smoking, I really feel for you. It’s the harder to quit smoking than it is to quit drinking. I
quit drinking over 10 years ago and it wasn’t easy but it was nothing compared to quitting cigarettes.But I believe anyone
can quit if they really want to.
I love to smoke. I’ve been smoking cigarettes since I was 16 years old. I’m 57 now. That’s 41 years. Actually, I just quit
smoking again a couple of weeks ago. I’m pretty sure it will work this time, thanks to the introduction of the electronic
cigarette (eCig). I quit for 2 years once before after reading Allen Carr’s ”
Easy Way to Stop Smoking
but I never quit wanting a cigarette. I used to
“air smoke” a lot and it really seemed to help. I don’t think the nicotine is that important to me, but the physical act of
smoking itself was something I couldn’t get out of my mind. Cigarettes have started tasting terrible to me lately. I
actually started putting a mint in my mouth so I could stand the taste. I believe this is because of the many vitamin and
herbal supplements that I take. But no matter how bad they taste, I still want to smoke anyway. That’s ridiculous. I
actually started thinking, ” I wish they would make a chocolate flavored cigarette.”
I tried a “disposable” electronic cigarette from the local convenience store and I actually liked the taste of it a lot
more than real cigarettes. It was a “BluCig” brand and it was supposed to be equivalent to 1 and a half packs of cigarettes.
It lasted me about half a day. This concerned me because they cost $10 bucks apiece. OK, well I decided to take the plunge
and purchase a BluCig starter kit for $75. The ecig consists of a rechargeable battery and flavor pack that screw together.
You can buy flavor packs for $15 for five. The starter kit comes with 2 rechargeable batteries, a variety of 5 flavor packs,
an on-the-go charger pack (holds five flavor packs, an extra battery, and one ecig), a USB charger. I loved the taste and
performance of the ecig when it was working. I was able to quit smoking real cigarettes immediately. However, I was not
happy with the performance of the batteries. I was constantly charging them. I found myself smoking a real cigarette several
times out of frustration. I saw an offer on the Internet for a ecig starter kit for $5 ( with strings attached). To make a
long story shorter, the Ecigbrand battery was far superior to the BluCig battery. None of the flavor packs last long. I
started refilling my own now. More on the next post.

Jenny before the Sermon every Sunday. Afterwards, they are invited to join
their teacher downstairs for “Kid’s Church” while the adults and youth stay
behind to listen to the Pastor’s sermon. Sometimes the sounds of children in
the church becomes a little bit loud but we don’t mind at all. Jenny is quick
to remind us that it is a sign of a growing church to have “crying babies and
kids running up and down the aisles”
